The municipality of Caranavi is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes -State Bolivia .

location

The municipality Caranavi was the only municipality in the province of Caranavi until 2009 and is located southwest of the upper reaches of the Río Beni . It is bordered to the northwest by Larecaja Province , to the southwest by Murillo Province , to the south by Nor Yungas Province , and to the east and northeast by Sud Yungas Province . In 2009, the municipality was divided into the municipality Caranavi in ​​the south and the municipality Alto Beni in the north; the information in this article partly refers to the undivided municipality Caranavi before 2009.

Today's municipality extends between about 15 ° 20 'and 16 ° 03' south latitude and 67 ° 07 'and 67 ° 42' west longitude, it measures 75 kilometers from north to south and 55 kilometers from west to east.
