The province Pedro Domingo Murillo (or short Murillo ) is one of twenty provinces in the central part of the Department of La Paz in the South American Andes -state Bolivia . It is the most populous province of Bolivia with the two large cities La Paz and El Alto . The Murillo province bears its name in honor of the Bolivian freedom hero Pedro Domingo Murillo (1756-1809).

Location in the vicinity

The province is located on the Bolivian Altiplano southeast of Lake Titicaca and borders the province Larecaja in the north, the province Los Andes in the west, the province Ingavi and the province Aroma in the southwest , the province Loayza in the south and the province Loayza in the east the province of Sud Yungas and the province of Nor Yungas , and in the northeast to the province of Caranavi .
