The municipality Mecapaca is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The Municipio Mecapaca is one of five Municipios of the Murillo Province and is located in the southern part of the province. It borders on the municipality of Achocalla in the west, on the province of Aroma in the southwest , and on the province of Loayza in the south, on the municipality of Palca in the east , and on the municipality of La Paz in the north .
The municipality has 64 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Mecapaca with 998 inhabitants in the northwestern part of the municipality. Other populous places in the municipality are Huajchilla with 1,078 inhabitants, El Palomar with 1,077 inhabitants, Yupampa Valencia with 936 inhabitants and Santiago de Collana with 931 inhabitants. The municipality of Mecapaca is located on the edge of the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3700 m on the western edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and is traversed by the Río de la Paz from northwest to southeast . The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which temperature fluctuations are greater during the day than during the year.
The mean average temperature of the municipality is 16 ° C (see climate diagram Mecapaca), the monthly mean temperatures fluctuate only slightly between almost 14 ° C in June / July and almost 18 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is 550 mm, the monthly precipitation is between under 15 mm from May to August and 120 mm in January.
