Choro is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Choro is the central place of the canton Choro in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Caranavi in the province of Caranavi . The municipality is located at an altitude of 826 m at the confluence of the Río Choro in the Río Coroico , which flows downstream into the Río Kaka , a tributary of the Río Beni .

Choro is located on the eastern edge of the Cordillera Real in the Bolivian Yungas , a transition region between the Andean highlands ( altiplano ) and the tropical lowlands of the Amazon - rainforest . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

From La Paz the asphalted highway Ruta 3 leads via Cotapata past Coroico via Santa Bárbara and Challa to Choro and on via Caranavi to Trinidad on the Río Mamoré .

Due to the historical population development, the Aymara population is predominant in the municipality of Caranavi , 57.8 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
