course
Río San Cristobal
The first section of the river from the source lake Laguna Huara Huarani to the confluence with the Río Molina Pampa from the left has a length of 45 kilometers. It is called Río San Cristobal and flows past the city of Sorata . The Rio Molina Pampa forms the border between the province Larecaja and muñecas province and unites with the Rio San Cristobal at an altitude of 1725 m at 15 ° 34 ' "18 S , 25 68 ° 46'" W .
Río Llica
After the union of Río Molina Pampa and Río San Cristobal, the river is named Río Llica for about 90 km and flows in a north-westerly direction. On this route the Río Copani flows from the left, and at the latest when the river joins the Río Camata coming from the left at kilometer 137 and at 15 ° 17 ′ 56 ″ S , 68 ° 16 ′ 13 ″ W , the river is then called Río Mapiri. Military maps give the river the name Río Mapiri from the Río Copani onwards, and here and there the river also bears the name Río Consata.
Important localities to the left of the Río Llica are Aucapata and the pre-Inca settlement Iskanwaya , to the right of the river are the localities of Quiabaya , Collobamba and Comsata .
Río Mapiri
The Río Mapiri between the Río Camata and the Río Zongo has long been used for gold mining in the past centuries, and even today there are simple gold panning facilities along the cities of Mapiri and Guanay to the right of the river . The name Mapiri is used for this section of the river at least up to the left tributary of the Río Atén, but mostly up to the tributary of Río Tipuani, Río Challana and Río Zongo / Coroico between Guanay and Teoponte , the name is occasionally also found up to the confluence with the Río Beni. In this section, the river flows in a south-easterly direction and drops 103 meters in altitude at only 49 kilometers.
Río Kaka
At the latest from kilometer 222 at 15 ° 30 ′ 3 ″ S , 67 ° 50 ′ 48 ″ W , when the Río Coroico flows in from the right , the river is called Río Kaka. The river now has a height of 411 m , and beyond Teoponte it flows through almost unpopulated area and winds its last 92 kilometers through steep foothills until it finally reaches the Río Beni at an altitude of 283 m . Shortly before the river mouth is the small town of Puerto Carmen .
