Quiabaya is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Quiabaya is a central place in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Quiabaya in the province of Larecaja . The village is located at an altitude of 3710  m in a valley cut ten kilometers above the Río Mapiri , which flows to the Río Beni .

Quiabaya is located east of the Altiplano in the Bolivian "Königskordillere" ( Cordillera Real ), which in turn is part of the Cordillera Central . The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

From there the road continues via Quiabaya to Mapiri in the Yungas on the eastern edge of the Cordillera Central mountain range .
