The municipality of Quiabaya is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Quiabaya is one of eight municipalities in the province of Larecaja and is located in the western part of the province. It borders on the province of Muñecas to the west, the Municipio Sorata to the south , and the Municipio Tacacoma to the east and north .
The municipality measures ten kilometers from north to south and fifteen kilometers from west to east. The municipality has 34 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of Quiabaya with 378 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the eastern part of the district.

The municipality of Quiabaya is located in the high mountain range of the Cordillera Real on the western foothills of the Illampú massif.
The mean average temperature of the region is 18 ° C (see Sorata climate diagram), the annual precipitation is a little more than 600 mm. The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between a good 15 ° C in June / July and a good 19 ° C in November / December. The monthly precipitation is between less than 25 mm in the months May to August and 100 to 125 mm from December to February.
