Aucapata is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Aucapata is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Aucapata in the province of Muñecas . The small settlement of Aucapata lies at an altitude of 2126 m in a side valley of the Río Llica , which flows over the Río Mapiri to the Río Beni .
geography
Aucapata is located east of Lake Titicaca in the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central . The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with temperatures differing more during the day than during the year.
The mean annual temperature of the village is 16 ° C (see climate diagram Aucapata), the monthly values fluctuate between almost 14 ° C in June / July and just over 17 ° C from October to March. From La Paz the asphalted highway Ruta 2 leads 70 kilometers north to Huarina , from there the Ruta 16 via Achacachi and Puerto Carabuco over a further 95 asphalt kilometers to Escoma . There the Ruta 16 turns in a north-easterly direction and becomes a dirt road. After 33 km another unpaved road branches off in Italaque , which leads via Mocomoco to Chuma and on to Aucapata .

Near Aucapata are the Iskanwaya fields of ruins , which date from the first millennium AD and are attributed to the Mollo culture .
