The canton of Colcha is a municipality in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The Cantón Colcha is one of two cantons in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Arque in the province of Arque . The canton is located in the western part of Bolivia, it borders in the east and north with the canton Arque , in the west with the municipality Tacopaya , in the southwest with the province Bolívar , and in the south with the department Potosí .
The canton extends between about 17 ° 48 'and 17 ° 58' south latitude and 66 ° 20 'and 66 ° 28' west longitude, it measures up to 15 kilometers from north to south and up to ten kilometers from west to east. There are 39 municipalities in the canton, the central location is the municipality of Colcha in the central northern part of the canton with 81 inhabitants, the mean altitude of the canton is 3700 m .
geography
The canton of Colcha lies in one of the northern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central. The climate is semi-arid and a typical daytime climate , in which the mean temperature differences between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.
The canton's valleys have an average annual rainfall of 600 mm and an average annual temperature of 11 ° C. The dry season lasts from May to September and has lower temperatures, but is frost-free. The rainy season lasts from December to February and is warmer than the annual average (see climate diagram Arque).
