Colcha (also: Colcha Pueblo ) is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Colcha is the central place of the canton Colcha in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Arque in the province of Arque . The village is located at an altitude of 2914 m in the valley of the Río Arque , one of the upper reaches of the Bolivian Río Grande , in the Bolivian Cordillera Central .

Colcha lies in one of the northern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central. The climate is semi-arid and a typical daytime climate , in which the mean temperature differences between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.
Colcha has an average annual precipitation of 600 mm and an average annual temperature of 11 ° C. The dry season lasts from May to September and has lower temperatures, but is frost-free. The rainy season lasts from December to February and is warmer than the annual average (see climate diagram Arque).

Transport network
Colcha lies in a south-westerly direction 100 kilometers by road from Cochabamba , the capital of the department.
From Cochabamba, the paved road Ruta 4 leads west via the town of Quillacollo to Parotani and on to Caracollo , where it meets Ruta 1 , which crosses the Altiplano from north to south and connects to La Paz , Oruro and Potosí . South of Parotani an asphalt country road branches off to the south and after 24 kilometers reaches the city of Capinota . From there, a dirt road continues up the Río Arque and leads via Irpa Irpa , Orcoma and Kara Kara to the provincial capital Arque . Four kilometers southwest of Arque, a track branches off to the south and crosses the Río Arque to Colcha on the right, southern side of the river .
