The municipality Tacopaya is a district in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Tacopaya is one of two municipalities in the province of Arque . It is bordered to the west by the department of Oruro , in the south of the province of Bolívar , on the east by the municipality of Arque , and on the north by the Tapacarí Province .

The central place of the municipality is Tacopaya with 535 inhabitants in the eastern part of the municipality. ( 2012 )

The Municipio Tacopaya is located between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Cordillera Oriental in the east on the northern foothills of the Cordillera Central .

The climate of the region is semi-arid and a typical daytime climate , in which the daily temperature fluctuations are more pronounced than the temperature differences over the course of the year (see climate diagram Arque).

The annual average temperature is around 10 to 11 ° C, the monthly averages in June / July are only 6 to 7 ° C and the summer values in January / February are 13 ° C.
