Dire Tune

Dire Tune ( Dire Tune Arissi ; born June 19, 1985 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

Life

She made her debut in 2005 at the Los Angeles Marathon , where she was fourth in 2:30:48 h. In the same year she was second at the 25 km from Berlin and finished 37th at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki . At the road running world championships in 2006 over 20 km she was fourth in 1:05:16 h and won silver with the Ethiopian team.

In 2007 she set a course record in the Houston Marathon with 2:26:52 h and came second in the Nagano Marathon in 2:28:59 h. At the World Championships in Osaka , she did not reach the goal.

The following year she improved the course record in Houston with her personal best of 2:24:40, won the Boston Marathon and set a world record in the hour run with 18,517 m . In the marathon of the Olympic Games in Beijing , she came in 15th place.

In 2009 she won the RAK half marathon with the national record of 1:07:18 h, finished second in Boston with one second behind Salina Jebet Kosgei and placed 23rd in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Berlin .

In 2010 she was fifth in the RAK half marathon, as in the previous year, third in the World's Best 10K and won the 10 km distance at the Ottawa Race Weekend . She won silver at the World Half Marathon Championships in Nanning , and came second at the Frankfurt Marathon .

The following year she came second in the RAK half marathon and second in the World's Best 10K and came in sixth in Boston. The title defense in Ottawa was followed by a victory at the World 10K Bangalore .
