The canton of Potolo is an administrative district in the department of Chuquisaca in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton of Potolo is one of thirteen cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Sucre in the province of Oropeza and is located in the western part of the district. It borders in the northwest, west and south on the Potosí department , in the southeast on the canton of Maragua , and in the northeast on the canton of Chaunaca .

The canton extends between 18 ° 57 '30 "and 19 ° 06' south latitude and 65 ° 27 '30" and 65 ° 35' west latitude, it measures from north to south up to fifteen kilometers and from west to east up to twelve kilometers. The canton consists of 33 localities ( localidades ), the central place is Potolo with 451 inhabitants ( 2001 ) in the central part of the canton.

The canton of Potolo is located east of the Bolivian Altiplano on the western edge of the Cordillera Central . The climate is a moderate altitude climate and a typical time of day climate , in which the average temperature fluctuation is greater during the day than during the year.
