Kaori Imabeppu ( Japanese 今 別 府 香 里 , Imabeppu Kaori ; born September 7, 1986 in Nara Prefecture ) is a Japanese badminton player .

Career

Imabeppu is from Nara Prefecture and has an older sister, Yasuyo , who plays for Yonex . She attended Sugahara Elementary School in Yamatotakada . During this time she started badminton at the age of 8 through her sister. At the national primary school championships in 1997 she had her first major success when she reached gold in singles. She then attended Katashio Middle School and again won gold in singles at the 2000 Junior Championships. This was followed by the Yamada High School in Aomori , northern Japan , which her later teammates Koharu Yonemoto and Eriko Hirose , as well as Mizuki Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa also attended . In the 2003 Inter-High high school championships, she achieved gold in singles. She was able to defend this title in 2004 and also achieved 3rd place in doubles. She was also able to win gold again at the junior championships this year.

After school, she joined the Sanyo company on April 1, 2005 and played for their factory team and, after Panasonic took over the company in 2011, for their factory team.

Kaori Imabeppu won the women's singles title at the 2007 Japanese Championships. A year later she won the Portugal International and the Croatian International. In 2010 she was successful at Swedish International Stockholm. In the Uber Cup 2008 , she was ninth with the Japanese women's team.
