The Alt Jargenow chapel is a church building from the 17th century in the Alt Jargenow district of Görmin in Western Pomerania .

The brick-roofed plastered building in Renaissance forms , a small hall building made of flooded mixed masonry, was built in 1625 on behalf of Christoph Altwig von Blixen in memory of his first wife Sabina von Parsenow , who died that same year . This is reported by the inscription on a coat of arms stone originally embedded in the eastern gable triangle, now set up inside the building for conservation reasons, on which the coats of arms of both families, surrounded by two allegorical female figures, can be seen.

To what extent this building goes back to a previous building mentioned in written sources, which was temporarily used as a horse stable after the Reformation, is unknown.

In a fire in 1830, of which a memorial stone in front of the south wall commemorates, the already dilapidated church tower , actually just a roof turret , as can be seen from a description from 1815, and parts of the exterior were destroyed. The restoration of the 19th century took place externally in forms of neo-Gothic .

In 1994 the entire chapel was extensively restored and the exterior design of the 17th century was restored. The building has plaster blocks at the corners . Wide segmented arched windows and a round arched portal with a bevelled archivolt in the south define the exterior.

The interior is flat. The windows with acanthus framing in grisaille painting were renovated in 1997. The furnishings include a renaissance pulpit from 1652 with reliefs of the evangelists as well as fittings and scrollwork. The square cup of the granite baptism is probably medieval, the baptism with a small basin stands on an octagonal foot.

The only bell in the chapel was taken over by a parish from Rothenburg / Oberlausitz in 1957 , and a bell chair was built for it.

The Evangelical parish of Görmin, which is co-administered by the Dersekow parish , has been part of the Demmin provost in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Greifswald parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
