occupation

Kapitalistis is a French - Belgian short film directed by Pablo Muñoz Gomez in 2017.

action

It is shortly before Christmas and Nikos tells his father Gyorgis that he no longer wants to go to school because the children laugh at him because of his old school satchel. He wants a new PowerMax satchel. Gyorgis suggests that Nikos wants it from Santa Claus, but Nikos says that he will not get it, since Santa Claus is a capitalist and only gives nice presents to rich children.

Gyorgis has lived in Belgium for nine months and has a mini job as a pizza driver. A PowerMax satchel costs between 80 and 180 euros and is beyond its financial capabilities. Working longer would not bring him more money, he does not get a second mini job at the employment agency because he should be happy to have at least one job. Therefore, he gets by with small part-time jobs, including walking dogs and making himself available as a human buffet with his alternative uncle Bart. The day before Christmas he has the money, but the PowerMax satchels are sold out. The store clerk sells him a copy that has been put aside at an exorbitant price. Nikos is happy, but Gyorgis reacts thoughtfully and depressed to the success. A little later, with Nikos, he painted over the PowerMax logo on the satchel.
