It is located in the town of Svilengrad in the administrative district ( oblast ) Haskovo .

The place is on the railway line İstanbul Sirkeci – Swilengrad and is the Bulgarian border station in traffic with Turkey . The line and the rail border crossing have existed since 1971. The line is the only one that connects Turkey with the rest of Europe, apart from Greece .
