Hood Rajaiah

Hood Rajaiah ( Telugu : కాపు రాజయ్య ; born April 6, 1925 in Siddipet ; † August 20, 2012 ibid) was an Indian painter .

Life

Rajaiah came from a poor family from the district Medak located village Siddipet . He studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in Hyderabad and started with tempera before moving to oil paints . He gained fame through paintings that were based on folk art and rural life in his home region of Telangana . His works, stylistically dedicated to Nakashi art, have often been compared to those of the Bengali painter Jamini Roy and portray traditional festivities, people and other facets of village life in Andhra Pradesh such as Vaddera mahila , Yellamma Jogi , Gopika Krishna , Kolatam , Bonalu and Bathukamma . He has received numerous state awards. International exhibitions of Rajaiah's paintings took place in Great Britain, Czechoslovakia, Australia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Cuba and Mexico, among others.
