The Kapulukaya Dam ( Kapulukaya Barajı in Turkish ) is located in Central Anatolia 15 km south of the provincial capital Kırıkkale on the Kızılırmak River .
The dam, located in the Turkish province of Kırıkkale , was built in 1979–1989 on behalf of the state water authority DSİ for the purpose of generating energy and supplying drinking water . The embankment dam is 44 m high and has a volume of 1.56 million m³. The associated reservoir has a water surface of 20.6 km² and a storage volume of 285 million m³. The Kapulukaya Dam hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 54 megawatts . The standard work capacity is 160 GWh per year. The Kesikköprü dam is located above the reservoir .
The village of Karaahmetli was flooded by the dam. In 2007 the village and the village school were temporarily visible again, as the water level was lowered due to work on a Seljuk bridge.
