The Altınkaya Dam ( Turkish Altınkaya Barajı ) is located on the lower reaches of the Kızılırmak in the northern Turkish province of Samsun .

The dam was built between 1980–1988 / 89 by the state water authority DSİ for the purpose of generating energy . Today it is operated by the state energy company Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (EÜAŞ) operated.

The barrier structure of the dam is a stone embankment dam with a clay core . The 118 km² reservoir has a storage space of 5763 million m³ and extends to the neighboring province of Sinop . Upstream is the Boyabat Dam , while downstream, below the Altınkaya Dam, is the Derbent Dam .

The hydropower plant of the Altınkaya Dam generates an average of 1632 GWh per year with four Francis turbines of 175 MW each (total output 700 MW). It was put into operation in 1987/1988. The water is led through a 1700 m long tunnel with a diameter of 9.8 m.
