Karamalz is a trademark of the Mannheim eichbaum for root beer .

With an alcohol content of 0.0 % vol. , Karamalz is one of the non-alcoholic beverages under German and Swiss food law . In addition to the classic “Karamalz Classic” malt beer, there are also the “Karamalz Fresh Lemon” and “Karamalz Light” varieties.

history

The "Henninger Karamell-Kraftbier" has been marketed by Henninger Bräu in the Frankfurt area since 1955 . In 1958, in addition to the recipe, the name was changed to Karamalz and registered as a trademark. In 1961 Karamalz was registered as a trademark . The drink contains 184 kJ / 100 ml .

In 1998 the “Karamalz Fresh Lemon” variety was introduced, a mixed drink made from malt beer and lemonade with added ascorbic acid (vitamin C).

As a result of the restructuring of Henninger Bräu, the brand came to Eichbaum-Brauerei in 2001/2002.

In 2005 a drink called "Kara-Aktiv Lemon" (later: "Karamalz Aktiv Lemon") with the addition of calcium , magnesium and ascorbic acid was introduced, which was later withdrawn from the market; In 2016 "Karamalz Light" (reduced calories, with sweetener) was introduced.
