Karaski (German Karraski ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in southeast Estonia . It belongs to the rural municipality of Kanepi ( Kõlleste until 2017 ) in Põlva County .

Population

The village has 31 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1627. A village school has been documented since 1767. In 1930 a new school building was completed. The school closed in 1989. Since 1997 there has been a guest house in it.

Personalities

The birth house of the Estonian writer Richard Roht (1891–1950) is in Karaski . The writer Rudolf Sirge (1904–1970) spent parts of his childhood in Karaski.
