Karawan ( Ukrainian and Russian Караван ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kharkiv with about 200 inhabitants (2001).
The village, founded in 1873, belongs administratively to the Mala Danylivka settlement council in the south of Derhatschi Rajon . It is located at an altitude of 111 m on the right bank of the Lopan , a 93 km long tributary of the Udy , 4 km west of the Mala Danylivka community center, 6 km south of the Derhatschi district center and 14 km northwest of the Kharkiv oblast center .
A fortified Scythian settlement from the late 5th to early 2nd century BC was established near the village . Found. Archaeological excavations that took place in 1954/55 brought to light the remains of fortifications, mud and wooden huts, ceramics and the bones of domestic and wild animals.
