Karen Clark (rower)
Karen Clark (born April 6, 1978 in Delta , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian rower .
Athletic career
Karen Clark, who is 1.76 m tall, rowed for the Victoria Vikes , the University of Victoria's sports club . At the 2001 World Championships in Lucerne, she and Jacqui Cook won the bronze medal in a two-man without helmsman behind the boats from Romania and Belarus. Clark and Cook also competed in eighth place and finished in seventh place as winners of the B final. A year later, the two also competed in both boat classes at the 2002 World Championships in Seville. In two, they won the silver medal behind the Romanian defending champions Georgeta Andrunache and Viorica Susanu . The Canadian eight reached the A-final and finished sixth. Also in the 2003 World Championships in Milan were Clark and Cook in two boat classes. In a pair of two, they finished fourth, 1.2 seconds behind the third-placed Romanians this time. In the eighth, the Germans won ahead of the Romanians. Almost a second behind the Romanians, the Canadian eighth won the bronze medal in the line-up of Jacqui Cook, Karen Clark, Rachel Dunnet , Andréanne Morin , Darcy Marquardt , Pauline van Roessel , Roslyn McLeod , Buffy-Lynne Williams and taxwoman Sarah Pape . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Cook and Clark only competed in eighth, the Canadians were the only crew to miss the A-final.
