Karen Moncrieff

Karen Moncrieff (born December 20, 1963 in Sacramento , California ) is an American actress , director and screenwriter . As an actress she could be seen in the US soap operas Zeit der Sehnsucht ( Days of our Lives ) and Springfield Story ( Guiding Light ), among others. She has directed the television series Six Feet Under - Always Deaths and two of her own film projects, for which she also wrote the screenplay.

Moncrieff graduated from Adams High School in Rochester , Michigan in 1982 . Before joining television and film, she took part in beauty pageants . In 1985 she was named Miss Illinois , qualifying for the Miss America title that same year.

She has received nominations and awards at various festivals for her independent films. She was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award both for Blue Car - Poetry of the Summer of 2002 and for Dead Girl of 2007 . Both films were also nominated for the Grand Special Prize of the Jury at the Festival of American Films in Deauville , Dead Girl won the competition in 2007.

Karen Moncrieff is married with one daughter.
