The Karenga ( Russian Каренга ) is a right tributary of the Witim in the Transbaikalia region in southeast Siberia .
The Karenga rises in the Jablonowy Mountains northeast of the city of Chita . It flows in a north-easterly direction through the mountains and after 366 km flows into the Witim on the right at Ust-Karenga. The Karenga drains an area of 10,100 km². The river is ice-covered between late November and mid-April. In the months of May to September it often leads to flooding . The mean discharge (MQ) 5.5 km above the mouth is 40.9 m³ / s.
