Karimnagar ( Telugu : కరీంనగర్ , Urdu : کریم نگر Karīmnagar [ kʌˈriːmnʌɡʌr ]) is a city in the Indian state of Telangana . It is the administrative center of the Karimnagar district and has a population of around 260,000 (2011 census). Karimnagar has been a municipal corporation since 2005.

The city is located at an altitude of 265 meters. It is 162 kilometers from the capital, Andhra Pradesh, Haidarabad , where the nearest international airport is located.
