Karin Buchholz (born August 24, 1963 in Buchholz in the Nordheide ) is a German author and columnist .

Life

Karin Buchholz was born in Buchholz in the North Heath in Lower Saxony and moved to Schleswig-Holstein in 2004 . There she works in a disused beacon . Karin Buchholz is married and has a son, the graphic designer A. Robert Buchholz.

After training to become a patent attorney's assistant (1983) and foreign language assistant , Karin Buchholz started her own business in the same year as the owner of an office service, translator , foreign language assistant and later an office management consultant. Since 2006 she has only devoted herself to writing.

Writing career

Karin Buchholz began writing as early as 2003; Since 2006, the autodidact has been working as a freelance author and columnist .

Various book publications as well as work in the recording studio (including speaking of her audio book for the first volume of the series “Strandgut” and various speaking assignments).

The author also creates the illustrations for her books herself.

Karin Buchholz has been the author and editor of her own mini-book edition since 2012.

Every year Buchholz organizes numerous readings and reading salons all over northern Germany . The basic characteristic is the mixture of cheerful and contemplative texts: demanding and profound texts are interwoven with stories of Nordic local color , the magic of the moment and the happiness of the little things.

Her writing style is pictorial, she describes herself as a “word painter”. The focus of the writing activity is on the field of short stories, although works in other genres have also been created ( children's books , novels , poetry ).

Beyond the book publications, Buchholz became known through her work as a columnist (since 2008 she has been continuously satirical reports in the USA , her everyday observations from Germany appeared in some north German magazines).

Since 2010 she has appeared as a laudator ; Among others at vernissages of the Schleswig-Holstein painter Ines Ramm (Diakonie Kropp 2010 and Hotel Reichshof Hamburg 2012) and in 2014 as a jury member at the Schleswig-Holstein short story competition "Butter bei die Fisch - This is how the north writes".
