Karin Fleischanderl (born December 29, 1960 in Steyr ) is an Austrian translator and publicist .

biography

Karin Fleischanderl graduated from the Federal High School in Steyr in 1979 . She then studied Italian and English at the Vienna Interpreting Institute and Romance Studies at the University of Vienna . She has been working as a freelance translator since 1983. She translated the complete works of Antonio Tabucchi into German, as well as books by numerous other Italian authors (including Gabriele d'Annunzio , Natalia Ginzburg , Luigi Malerba , Marcello Mastroianni , Pier Paolo Pasolini and Dacia Maraini ).

From 1987 to 1997 Karin Fleischanderl was co-editor of the literary magazine Wespennest , in 1997 she founded the magazine Kolik together with Gustav Ernst . She also published essays on Austrian and Italian literature.

In 2005, together with Gustav Ernst, she founded the Leondingen Academy for Literature and judged the texts of Sprichcode , Leondingen Youth Prize for Language and Photography. She has been a lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt since 2007, and a juror for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize since 2009 . Together with Gustav Ernst, she also founded the Johann Beer Literature Prize in 2009 .
