Karin Lohr

Karin Lohr (* 1954 ) is a German sociologist and professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin . She holds the professorship for “Sociology of Work and Gender Relations” at the Institute for Social Sciences.

Life

Karin Lohr studied economics and sociology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and completed her diploma studies in 1977. Between 1977 and 1980 she continued her research studies there, supported by a doctoral scholarship and finally did her doctorate in 1980 with her dissertation entitled “The role of the manager in the inclusion of production workers in the design of their working conditions”.

She was a research assistant between 1980 and 1985 and has been a permanent researcher at the Institute for Sociology at Humboldt University since 1988 , after completing her post- doctoral studies between 1985 and 1988 with a habilitation scholarship .

Between 1992 and 1993 she held her first substitute professorship at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

Since 2011 she has been co-editor of the Berlin Journal for Sociology .
