The Karkın were one of the 24 Oghuz tribes.

Mahmud al-Kāshgharī did not mention them in his work Dīvān Lugāt at-Turk . As a totem animal they had a Bonelli's eagle . Their tribal name means high-spirited and satisfying in Old Turkish .
