The Kınık were an important Oghuz tribe.

Mahmud al-Kāshgharī mentioned them under the name Kınık as one of the 24 Oghuz tribes. They had a hawk as a totem animal . Your tribal name means in Old Turkish the one who is valued .

The Kınık came to Anatolia from Central Asia with the Seljuks in the 11th century . The Seljuks dynasty emerged from the Kınık . They ruled Central Asia, Iran , Iraq , Syria , Anatolia and parts of the Arabian Peninsula from 1040 to 1194 .
