Mahmud al-Kāshgharī mentioned her under the name Yıva as one of the 24 Oghuz tribes. They had a hawk as a totem animal . Their tribal name means in Old Turkish the one whose rank is high . The tribe appeared in the border area of ​​Iran and Iraq in the middle of the 12th century.
