Karl-Heinz Miersch

Karl-Heinz Miersch (born November 23, 1947 in Dresden ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Miersch began cycling with SG Dynamo Dresden-Nord in 1962 . In the youth classes he was on the podium several times at the GDR championships. With the transition to the performance class, he was delegated to SC Dynamo Berlin .

In 1968 he was immediately runner-up in the road race behind Bernd Patzig . A year later he was appointed to the national team for the Tour of Algeria , where he finished second behind Gösta Pettersson . With his club he finished second in the team time trial at the GDR championships.

In 1970 he won the Berlin – Leipzig race . He finished the Tour of Poland in 1970 in 17th place, where he won two stages. In the traditional race around the Hainleite he was third in Dieter Grabe's victory .

In 1971 he finished 22nd in the final ranking at his only start in the International Peace Tour.

Familiar

His younger brother Wolfgang Miersch was also a cyclist.
