Christian ethics

The two volumes of moral theologian Peschke on Christian ethics, Fundamentals of Moral Theology and Special Moral Theology, are among the standard works of Christian ethics . They are very often used and cited as sources in secondary literature . The original text of the two volumes was written in English and published simultaneously in England and the Philippines in 1975 and 1978, and from 1979 also in India. In all three countries, the books had 10 editions or more. Translations into several other languages followed.

Based on the great tradition of the Latin sums of moral theology (Noldin, Prümmer, Marc), the author integrated its instructions into moral theology after the Second Vatican Council and - at the request of the council - developed its biblical basis in more detail. In repeated revisions, the texts were brought up to date with the latest developments in theology and related sciences (Volume 1: 1986 and 1996; Volume 2: 1992 and 2004). Emphasis is placed on the written doctrine of the ecclesiastical denomination, such as presented in the social encyclicals. The author's statements are concise, but are not structured according to the ten commandments or four cardinal virtues - as is generally the case in tradition - but according to internal criteria of the subject areas. New chapters and sectors have been responsibility for creation since 1989 and business ethics since 1992. The manual is aimed at everyone who is interested in the moral direction of the Christian faith.

The author also paid special attention to natural law and business ethics. The writing Economics from a Christian Perspective also originally appeared in English and has been translated into ten other languages.
