Karl-Heinz Schelp (born September 16, 1940 in Mennighüffen ) is a former German football player .
Career
The goalkeeper Karl-Heinz Schelp began his career at VfL Mennighüffen in the Herford district , where he last played in the fourth-class Landesliga Westfalen . First he played for Osnabrück's amateur team in the second-rate amateur league of Lower Saxony , but displaced the goalkeeper of the contract players' team Horst Borcherding during the 1961/62 season .
In October 1962 he received an invitation to a viewing course for the German national team . The Hamburg national player Uwe Seeler praised Schelp for his achievements. Being at Schelp would be "many strikers often desperate". For VfL, Schelp played 54 games in the first-class Oberliga Nord and 29 games in the second-class Regionalliga Nord .
When Schelp lost his regular place to Willi Mehlmann, Schelp had himself reamateurised. From 1966 Schelp let his career at Bünder SV come to an end and later guarded the gate of the old men of his home club VfL Mennighüffen. After his career, Schelp settled in Löhne .
