Karl-Ludwig Hoch

Karl-Ludwig Hoch (born April 26, 1929 in Dresden ; † August 27, 2015 there ) was a German art historian, theologian and pastor. He was best known as the author of the call from Dresden .

Life

Karl-Ludwig Hoch grew up in Dresden-Loschwitz , studied Protestant theology and art history and received his doctorate in theology in 1981 at the University of Leipzig with a study of Caspar David Friedrich's piety and his reverence for nature . He worked as a pastor in various parishes ( Hosterwitz , Cotta , Dreikönigskirche ), including 35 years in Dresden-Plauen . In the history of art he specialized in Caspar David Friedrich , on whom he presented several monographs. In 1980 he suggested the establishment of the Museum of Dresden Early Romanticism in the Kügelgenhaus .

In November 1989, Hoch wrote the original version of the Call from Dresden , an appeal that promoted the reconstruction of the Dresden Frauenkirche .

Hoch died on August 27, 2015 at the age of 86 in his hometown of Dresden. He was buried on September 4th in the Loschwitz cemetery .
