Karl Ulrich Nuss (born January 17, 1943 in Stuttgart ) is a German sculptor and medalist .

Karl Ulrich Nuss is the son of the sculptor Fritz Nuss (1907–1999). From 1961 to 1964 he trained as a chaser at the state higher technical school for the precious metal trade in Schwäbisch Gmünd . He then studied with Hans Wimmer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg until 1966 . In 1967 he moved to the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Berlin (today University of the Arts Berlin ) to Bernhard Heiliger , with whom he became a master student in 1969 .

Since 1970 he has lived and worked as a freelance sculptor in the Weinstadt district of Strümpfelbach.

In 1972 he was given a teaching position for "sculptural design" at the University of Applied Sciences (now the University of Design) in Schwäbisch Gmünd , which he held until 1979.

Works by Nuss have already been shown at solo exhibitions at home and abroad and are in public spaces, for example, in Hameln, Stuttgart, Marbach am Neckar, Reutlingen, Heilbronn, Bochum, Ulm, Frankfurt am Main, Sindelfingen, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Oberkochen and Winnenden. In 2001, a sculpture path with 43 works by father and son Nuss was set up in Strümpfelbach . In 2008, the “Couples” sculpture avenue opened near the Naturfreundehaus Strümpfelbach with a further 10 sculptures. Many of his sculptures have been with the Yburg since 2011 .

In 2004 he was made an honorary professor of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Fritz and Karl Ulrich Nuss have also built up a collection of paintings by various, mostly Swabian artists, which is shown in an exhibition in Strümpfelbach. These include works by Hermann Pleuer , Christian Landenberger , Otto Reiniger , Eugen Stammbach , Reinhold Nägele , Max Ackermann , Manfred Henninger , Robert von Haug (1857–1922), Peter Jakob Schober and Otto von Faber du Faur .
