Carl Albert Nauwerck

Carl Albert Nauwerck , also Karl Albert Nauwerck or Nauwerk (born August 28, 1735 in Mirow , † January 6, 1801 in Domhof Ratzeburg ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and provost at Ratzeburg Cathedral .

Life

Carl Albert Nauwerck was born as the son of the merchant (Johann) Gottlieb Nauwerck (1694–1761). After completing his theology studies, he accompanied the Hereditary Prince (later Grand Duke) Karl in the field as a cabinet preacher. In 1765 he became second preacher to St. Laurentius in Schönberg (Mecklenburg) . In 1767 he was appointed to succeed Ernst Martin Ditmar as Provost and Consistorial Assessor at the Ratzeburg Cathedral, where he remained until the end of his life. In 1789 he received the title of consistorial councilor. Together with his immediate superior and friend, the Strelitz superintendent Andreas Gottlieb Masch , he built up the cathedral library. In 1769, a ducal regulation gave him the supervision of the rural schools in the Principality of Ratzeburg .

He was married to Eva Sophia, geb. Harrow († 1806). Ludwig Nauwerck was one of the couple's children .
