Karl Augustin District Mayor of Berlin-Wilmersdorf and Berlin-Charlottenburg

Karl Augustin (born October 15, 1877 in Frankfurt (Oder) ; † 1974 , also Carl Augustin ) was a German state politician of the DVP . He was the district mayor of Berlin-Wilmersdorf and Berlin-Charlottenburg .

Life

Augustin studied law in Leipzig, Munich, Berlin and Marburg. In 1898 he passed the legal traineeship exam, in 1903 the major state examination in law, in 1904 he became a state assessor and in 1906 a state councilor in the Wiesbaden district . In February 1914 he came to Charlottenburg as a councilor for the poor. During the First World War he was initially on the front lines, was wounded in 1916 and then headed the food supply and other important departments in Charlottenburg. From April 1, 1921 to 1924, Augustin was mayor of the Wilmersdorf district. At the beginning of July 1924, the district assembly of Charlottenburg elected him to the office of mayor, which he retained until May 1936 after the National Socialists came to power, as he essentially acted in their favor. He was then appointed as a department head in the Reich Ministry of Finance and in 1940 appointed ministerial director.

After 1946 he worked as a ministerial director in the Hessian Ministry of Finance , where he took over the management of the department for financial and burden sharing.

Around 1918 he lived at Neue Kantstrasse 1 and from 1935 at Schützallee 136 in Berlin-Zehlendorf .
