Karl Böhm-Hennes (born July 15, 1891 in Lauscha ; † November 20, 1914 near Łódź , Russia ) was a German skier in the Nordic disciplines . He grew up in Ernstthal on the Rennsteig . He was friends and engaged to the local writer Wally Eichhorn-Nelson .
Career
The Thuringian Karl Böhm-Hennes won along with his brother Emil Böhm-Hennes and his friends Eugen Böhm and Paul Löffler highest at the beginning of the 20th century skisportliche successes. His 17-meter ski jump in Oberhof in 1908 caused a sensation . In 1909 he won the German junior skiing championship in Braunlage . He then won the Thuringian Championship in Oberhof. In 1910 he became a Saxon master in Altenberg - Geising , and on Feldberg he won the German title in running and art skating. For four years he trained tirelessly and then achieved sensational jumps of 29 to 31 meters at the Thuringian championships. In 1911 Böhm-Hennes won the German ski championship in Oberwiesenthal and the Austrian ski championship in Mitterndorf . In Oberhof he jumped a new German distance record with 36 meters. In 1912 Karl Böhm-Hennes was fourth on the Holmenkollbakken in the "compound run" ( Nordic combined ) behind the dominant skiers from the north, which earned him high recognition in Norway . He won the Golden Snow Star four times. In 1914 Karl Böhm-Hennes won the Thuringian championship again. It was his last victory, because the First World War brought the conscription for military service. During the war on the Russian front, his young life came to an abrupt end in death.
