Karl Becker (born October 25, 1909 in Lübz ; † July 25, 1989 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Becker was born in Lübz (Mecklenburg) and passed the Abitur at the secondary school in Rostock . He studied political science at the universities of Vienna and Rostock . In 1933 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. doctorate and then worked at an economic advice center in Rostock and the main association of the German grain and feed industry in Berlin. During the Second World War , Becker was in the military from 1941 to 1945. In 1945 he joined the SPD and from 1945 was director of the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in 1948 moved to the state government of Schleswig-Holstein . In 1949 he became a member of the board of the Schleswig-Holstein Landgesellschaft based in Kiel , for which he worked until 1971. In addition, Becker was a lecturer at the University of Hamburg in the economics department from 1967 .

1967 Becker was the SPD land list in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein selected. He won the mandate again in 1971 via the state list and was a member of the state parliament until 1975. Becker was a member of several state parliament committees, including the committee for food, agriculture and forestry, the committee for displaced persons , the state planning committee, of which he was temporarily chairman, and the special committee for regional reform. In 1969 he took part in the 5th Federal Assembly.

Becker was married and had two children.
