Karl Drott

Karl Drott (born February 18, 1906 in Pfungstadt ; † September 25, 1971 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Karl Drott worked as a tool lathe operator from 1928 after attending primary school. In 1928 he attended courses at the mechanical engineering and adult education center and in 1929 became a clerk at the Darmstadt employment office. From 1930 to 1933 he was youth and education secretary of the SPD in the people's state of Hesse. After the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933, he was arrested several times. He was unemployed until 1935, after which he was a sales representative and co-owner of a leather goods factory. From 1938 to 1939 he worked as a material manager and operations computer. From 1940 to 1945 he did military service . In July 1945 he founded a news and translation agency in Offenbach. He later worked as a local editor for the Frankfurter Rundschau . In September 1946 he founded the Bollwerk-Verlag Karl Drott, which published numerous publications of the labor movement.

politics

Until 1933 Karl Drott was chairman of the Association of Socialist Workers' Youth . From 1930 to 1933 and after the Second World War he was district chairman of the SPD in the Offenbach district. From 1956 to 1968 he was a city councilor in Offenbach for his party.

From February 26, 1946 to July 14, 1946 he was a member of the appointed Land Advisory Committee and from July 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946 a member of the State Assembly of Greater Hesse that advised the constitution . In the first two electoral terms he was from December 1, 1946 to November 30, 1954 a member of the Hessian state parliament.

In 1954 Drott was a member of the 2nd Federal Assembly .
