Karl Egbert Wenzel

Karl Egbert Wenzel (born August 11, 1930 in Breslau ; † August 22, 1998 in Stuttgart ) was a German lawyer and media lawyer .

Life

Wenzel studied law in Cologne and did his doctorate with Wolfgang Hefermehl as Dr. iur. During his studies he was active in the Corps Silesia . After completing his doctorate, he joined the law firm of Stuttgart press lawyer Martin Löffler in 1963 and became a partner there. He was made an honorary professor for his part-time teaching at the Fachhochschule Druck, today's Stuttgart Media University.

The main focus of Wenzel's academic activity was research into and support for the development of media , copyright and trademark law in a changing modern society. He was editor of the magazine AfP - magazine for media and communication law . He was also a board member of the Stuttgart Bar Association .

As a lawyer, he took the so-called Hackethal decision on the medical advertising ban before the Federal Constitutional Court . Wenzel's works on copyright law and word and picture reporting have become standard works; they will be reissued regularly even after his death.
