Karl Enderlein

Karl Enderlein (born May 9, 1872 in Leipzig , † 1954 in Dresden ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

After an apprenticeship as a lithographer , Enderlein studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Ferdinand Wilhelm Pauwels and Leon Pohle . In 1904 he started exhibiting. In 1906 he exhibited at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and in 1907 at the German National Art Exhibition in Düsseldorf. After completing his studies, he initially worked as an illustrator for the Otto Maier publishing house. He provided illustrations for the fairy tale book Giants and Dwarfs ( Brothers Grimm ) as well as for the magazines Österreichs Deutsche Jugend and Die Woche für die Deutsche Jugend . From 1913 to 1947 he was a teacher at the Dresden School of Applied Arts .

In addition to graphic work, he mainly devoted himself to landscapes, flower pieces and genre themes in watercolor and oil.
