Karl Erik Harr

Karl Erik Harr (born May 8, 1940 in Kvæfjord near Harstad , Troms ) is a Norwegian painter , draftsman , graphic artist , illustrator and writer .

life and work

From 1962 to 1964 he trained at the Norwegian State Art Academy . He illustrated works by Petter Dass and Knut Hamsun , among others , as well as books that he wrote himself. He received several important commissions, for example to decorate the town hall of Bergen and the Hurtigruten ships Nordkapp and Richard With .

Karl Erik Harr has been one of Norway's most important neo-romantic artists since the 1960s. His motifs are mainly nature and folk life in northern Norway.

Honors

In 2007 Karl Erik Harr received the Order of Saint Olav, First Class.
