Karl Etti (composer)
Karl Etti (born October 26, 1912 in Vienna , † April 15, 1996 in Mödling ) was an Austrian choir director, conductor and composer.
Career
Etti was choirmaster of the Vienna Men's Choir Association and choir director of the Austrian Choir Association . From 1947 to 1964 he headed the Vienna Woods Boys' Choir . From 1962 to 1982 he was a professor at the Vienna University of Music .
As a composer, he created musical plays, incidental music, chamber music, choral and symphonic works as well as the opera Dagmar .
Etti set Rudolf Gahlbeck's work “ Ernst Barlach : Sonnets about his work ” to music as a “Barlach Cantata ” . For this work Etti was awarded the Austrian State Prize in 1952 . The world premiere took place in 1954 at the Vienna State Opera .
