Karl Everad Ellinckhuysen

Karl Everad Ellinckhuysen (born September 22, 1763 in Rotterdam , † December 10, 1837 in Zeltingen ) was a German wine merchant and winery owner.

Life

Ellinckhuysen learned viticulture in the Rheingau and from there came to Zeltingen in the Electorate of Cologne. There he led the red grape of Aßmannshausen and low-growing one of the Riesling grape in the wine. In 1785 he took over the Pazen-Goutzen estate from his father-in-law, which in 1880 came into the possession of Baron Clemens von Schorlemer-Lieser . In 1787 he became court advisor to the Electorate of Cologne. After the end of the Ancien Régime he became president of the canton Bernkastel in 1798 , and in 1800 mayor (Maire) in Zeltingen. He bought several domain estates: 1803 the Klosterhofgut Machern , 1807 the Kreutner-Hof in Zeltingen and the Rosenburg. Because of his services to the cultivation of viticulture, he was appointed to the council of commerce in 1825 . From 1826 to 1830 he was a member of the Rhenish Provincial Parliament , around 1832 first district deputy of the Bernkastel district . In the same year he was presented in the first place for the office of the Bernkasteler district administrator, but not accepted. He was an honorary member of the Society for Useful Research in Trier and received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class , in 1832 .
