Karl Friedrich Speck (born February 9, 1862 in Speyer , † August 6, 1939 (according to other sources: August 6, 1942) in Munich ) was Bavarian State Minister, civil servant and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Speck attended the humanistic grammar school in Speyer from 1872 to 1880 and the universities of Munich and Leipzig from 1880 to 1884. He was a trainee lawyer in 1884 from 1887 and completed the legal state bankruptcy in 1887. In 1890 he became customs accountant, in 1893 chief customs officer and in 1898 chief customs officer.

From 1898 to 1914 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Middle Franconia 4 ( Eichstätt , Beilngries , Weissenburg ) and the German Center Party .

Between 1905 and 1914 he was also a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies . In 1914 he was appointed government director and gave up his mandates.

In 1915 he was again a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies, which he remained until 1918. In 1918 he became chairman of the Bavarian People's Party , which he remained until 1929. From 1919 to 1928 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament and from May 31, 1919 to January 17, 1920 Bavarian State Minister of Finance .

From 1920 to 1927 he was President of the State Tax Office in Munich and from 1929 Chief Finance President in Würzburg . At the same time he was a member of the Bavarian State Court from 1920 to 1928.
