Karl Gottlieb Knorre (born June 22, 1696 in Halle (Saale) , † September 14, 1753 ibid) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Born as the son of the Halle University Syndicate Ernst Heinrich Konrre (born August 16, 1668 in Halle; † December 26, 1732 there), he attended schools in his hometown and in 1715 moved to the University of Halle . In order to complete a law degree, he attended lectures by Christian Wolff , Nikolaus Hieronymus Gundling , Christian Thomasius , Jakob Friedrich Ludovici (1671–1732) and Justus Henning Böhmer . At Easter 1719 he moved to the University of Helmstedt and heard the lectures Augustin Leyser and Johann Paul Kress (1677–1741).

A year later he returned to Halle, where he took his exams in June of the same year. However, since his present tense Johann Peter von Ludewig fell ill, his doctorate, which he could only complete on May 3, 1721, was delayed. On March 22, 1723 he was appointed associate professor at the law faculty in Halle. On May 14, 1726 he was appointed full professor. In connection with this, he received a position as an assessor at the law faculty and was appointed royal Prussian court advisor. In addition to Roman law, he has also read about criminal procedure, natural and international law.

After Ludewig's death in 1743, he was promoted to the third professorship, and after the death of Simon Peter Gasser, he was appointed to the second professorship. After Boehmer's death in 1749 he was appointed privy councilor and full professor of the Faculty of Law. In addition, he had also taken part in the organizational tasks of the University of Halle and was prorector of the Alma Mater in the previous semester of 1737 .

His son Ernst Friedrich Knorre (1728–1771) was also a legal scholar.
